What to do with the thorn in your flesh?

To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (0:22)

Apostle Paul’s Thorn!

I was inspired to make this message, because I have heard from multiple people how they will just live with their ailment.   Question- do you like living with…………?

Problem: People have accepted the thorn. Aka sickness/illness/disease/divorce/poor relationships/being broke or barely getting by, etc. (3:03)

They receive that they will always have it.

What do you accept?

That you can’t______?

That you will always be sick or have _______?

That you will always be broke or just getting by?

That you will always be single?

That you will never be good enough?

Nobody will ever want you?

You will never get in shape?

Purpose- what has to change what lessen needs to be learned because of this thorn?

-The apparent purpose of this thorn was beneficiary. Its intent was to keep Paul from boasting about what he did and keep him humble (6:04)

Hebrews 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (6:41)

What is the lesson? Apostle Paul’s was to be humble? Did He fully learn it? What lesson do you need to learn so you can be complete? (7:22)

Jesus wants to heal your life He desires you to be COMPLETE. (8:56)

Receive- the truth that thorn will not stay (9:32)

And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Luke 11:9-10 (9:56)

What do you believe and what do you receive?

I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2 (11:14)

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give us the desires of your heart. Ps. 37:4 (11:47)

If you say you believe the Word…. receive what it says!!

Persistent- to get rid of it and give it your all. This persistence will be seen in time. (14:22)

“A woman who had been bleeding for twelve years came up behind Jesus and barely touched his clothes. She had said to herself, ‘If I can just touch his clothes, I will get well.’ Jesus turned. He saw the woman and said, ‘Don’t worry! You are now well because of your faith.’ At that moment, she was healed.” Matthew 9:20-22 (16:10)

She tried everything she could on her own and she grew worse…. BUT GOD came through at the right time

David … praying in the psalms…. he didn’t cry out once, he cried out often… very persistent.

Job- he hung in there and in time God came through and blessed him more than he ever was before.

Even the man at the pool- he didn’t put into action, but he waited and thought one day that eventually it would change.

Child example when obedient… as a parent don’t you desire to reward them especially if they keep up the good work.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians

6:9 (18:48)

Persistent with everything in Life:)
